This year’s Coachella Music Festival attendees were in for a surprise when Jennifer Lopez joined David Guetta onstage for an unannounced appearance.
In the midst of performing on Saturday (Apr. 11), Guetta announced that he’d “invited a friend” to join him on stage, but he didn’t say who. Moments later, Lopez emerged on stage, tossed her glasses into the crowd, and began performing.
The duo ended up playing their new collab, “Save Me Tonight,” live for the first time. Lopez eventually embraced Guetta behind the DJ booth to wrap up the special moment.
Guetta and Lopez’s surprise link-up came right before Justin Bieber brought his catalog to the Coachella stage. Biebervelli’s headlining set featured him performing his hit songs like “Baby,” “Favorite Girl,” “Never Say Never,” and even his cover of Ne-Yo’s “So Sick,” which was one of the reasons he ended up being discovered nearly two decades ago.
Bieber’s set had its fair share of surprises too, such as when he brought out The Kid LAROI for their collab “Stay,” and pulled up his infamous paparazzi video where he said, “Is it not clocking to you?”
Another artist to take the stage and have an equally memorable show was Swae Lee, who had his set cut short for running over time — but still managed to perform with Jhené Aiko and even bring his son out in a Spider-Man costume.
After his performance, Meek Mill wrote that Lee “don’t get enough credit,” which prompted the Rae Sremmurd rapper to respond with, “My dots are connecting for me to be the next Michael Jackson twin. Meek the realest.
