We’re still close – Allison Williams reacts to Lena Dunham’s memoir
Allison Williams is taking a careful approach to Lena Dunham’s new memoir,
choosing not to rush her reaction.
Speaking in a recent interview, Allison Williams said she has only just started reading Famesick and wants to finish more of it before sharing a full opinion.
“I need to read more before I say anything about it,” she said, noting she is still early in the book.
She added that the section she has reached revisits the early days of Girls, including the pilot table read. Williams joked she expected to see a mention of her arriving late that day, but that detail did not make it into the story.
Despite the headlines around the memoir, Williams made it clear her relationship with Lena Dunham remains strong.
“We’re in touch all the time,” she said. “She would have told me if she was about to ruin my life with this book.” She added, “We love each other. It’s a lifelong bond.”
In Famesick, Dunham reflects on her time working on Girls and shares personal memories from that period.
She writes about her connection with co-star Adam Driver, describing moments where she felt emotionally drawn to him during filming.
Dunham recalls one quiet afternoon that stayed with her. “I looked up to see him smiling at me with something so tender, it felt like it could only have been love,” she wrote, describing a moment that caught her off guard.
She also acknowledges that their dynamic was complicated. “Sometimes I’d tell him he made me feel safe,” she wrote, adding that, at the time, she did not fully understand her own feelings.
Dunham describes a period when they spent more time together off set, while also reflecting on why she chose not to let things cross a certain line.
She writes that she worried it could affect their working relationship and leave her feeling exposed.
